Will Your Good Deeds Be Rewarded?

oze182
Doing a good deed will not take from you, or your wealth, and will actually cause it to increase manifold.

Have you done any noble deeds lately?

Doing good deeds is a sign of the noble, yet many people neglect doing good deeds in general, or fail to get the rewards when they do, because they don't know the ins and outs of what will get them those rewards.

Some of the simplest deeds have the greatest rewards.

Imagine getting up to 700 rewards for a single good deed. Sounds great, right?

Allah gives us a metaphor in the Quran discussing how if one plants a grain (does a good deed), that it will grow a stalk with seven ears, and each ear will hold 100 grains (rewards).
This explains that even a small deed can give you the blessings of 700 rewards!

Subhanallah!

“How can one earn thousand good deeds in a day?”Imagine gaining even more than that!
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) asked:

He (peace be upon him) replied:

"By saying Subhanallah a hundred times, then one thousand good deeds will be recorded for him or one thousand sins will be blotted out from his record." (Muslim, 2698)

Doing even the most minute of good deeds is still counted as a good deed, and can be counted as the best of deeds if it is done consistently. Are you ready to plant your garden of good deeds yet?

Most Muslims know that accepting Islam erases bad deeds committed before accepting Islam, but many don't know that their future good deeds will be rewardedten to seven hundred times over also!

Doing a good deed will not take from you, or your wealth, and will actually cause it to increase manifold. Allah said that He would answer the dua's of believers who dogood deeds, and will increase their bounty from Him. He will also show His love and affection to the believers that do righteous deeds.

He is most merciful in His rewards bestowed upon us by rewarding us for not doing a bad deed, and marking not doing so count that as a good deed in itself. He also gives us the good deed for those that we intend to do but are unable to do so, but if you can do it, and do it, He gives us ten to seven hundred rewards for it! How generous He is!

Giving a smile is considered charity, giving water to a thirsty animal, removing a branch from the road are simple good deeds that are often overlooked. Every opportunity that arises where you can do a good deed jump at it, and do it with sincerity for the sake of Allah.

Don't Invalidate Your Good Deeds

While doing a good deed, it is better to keep it private.
I've had many conversations with non-Muslims, and even non-practicing Muslims, that feel that being a good person and doing good deeds alone is enough to get them into heaven.

This is not enough!

You must believe in the oneness of Allah, otherwise your deeds will be in vain and you will only get the rewards in this life, but not the Hereafter. Allah Almighty says:

{If you join others in worship with Allah, (then) surely (all) your deeds will be in vain, and you will certainly be among the losers.} (Quran 39:65)

Do Good Deeds with Sincere Intentions

We are commanded to serve Allah with sincere devotion, which includes doing good deeds with sincerity.

While doing something that just happens to be a good deed, but we are doing it because of our own desires, it wouldn't be considered sincere.

Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) gave an excellent example saying that if one makes the good deed of doing hijrah (migrating to Muslim lands), but doing so just to marry a person, that the hijrah would only be counted for marriage, and not because of the desire to make hijrah for the sake of Allah. We get the rewards based on what was intended.

Another example of good deeds getting invalidated is when one commits riyaa’ (to show off) a good deed. Have you even seen or heard people bragging about something good they did to boast?

They want and value the praise and glory from mankind. This is an act of vanity called riyaa’, not nobility.

While doing a good deed, it is better to keep it private. All praise should be to Allah alone.  Without Allah's will, you may not be able to give or do for others. This is a trick of Satan to take us further from Allah.

{So woe to those who pray [but] who are heedless of their prayer - Those who make show [of their deeds] and withhold [simple] assistance.} (Quran107:4-7)

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) told us that on the Day of Judgment, when Allah will reward the good deeds of the people, those who displayed their good deeds to brag, will be told to go back to those people (the public) to get their rewards from them instead.

Don't let this discourage you from giving openly because it can encourage others to do good deeds. Just keep your intentions pure. Allah says:

{If you disclose your charitable expenditures, they are good; but if you conceal them and give them to the poor, it is better for you, and He will remove from you some of your misdeeds [thereby]...} (Quran 2:271)

Good deeds must also be in accordance to the Quran and Sunnah.
Have you been given help at some point, and then later the person that helped you asked for something and followed it up by saying that you owe them because they helped you in the past?

How did that make you feel, especially if you couldn't do what they are asking of you? Allah told us:

{O you who have believed, do not invalidate your charities with reminders or injury as does one who spends his wealth [only] to be seen by the people and does not believe in Allah and the Last Day.} (Quran 2:264)

So, next time you want to do a good deed, purify your intentions, and do it in private as much as possible. When you give something to another, we have been advised that one of the seven people that will be under the shade of the throne of Allah on Judgment day will be the one who spends so secretly that his left hand doesn't know what his right hand gave.

Do Good Deeds in Accordance with Quran and Sunnah

Good deeds must also be in accordance to the Quran and Sunnah. Adding to acts that are forms of worship are called bid'ah (innovations or fabrication in religion). This practice can cause one to fall into shirk if they are not careful.

Beware of the tricks Satan does to your logic and reasoning! He causes mankind to commit acts of innovation (bid'ah), thinking it is a good thing, so they don't ask for forgiveness for it, unlike an obvious sin which one can be forgiven for. However, if you think something is good, you wouldn't ever repent. This is why it is so dangerous.

{O you who have believed, obey Allah and obey the Messenger and do not invalidate your deeds.} (Quran 47:33)

May Allah forgive us our sins, and multiple the rewards for our good deeds.

Ameen.
